Director of Family Support Services Position DescriptionProgram Areas: BRICK, Family Care Plan (FCP), Family-Run Organization (FRO) Initiatives, Maternal & Child HealthSupervisor: Deputy DirectorPosition SummaryThe Director of Family Support Services serves as the strategic lead for the expansion, development, and sustainability of SIRACs family-centered programming. This role is responsible for advancing a comprehensive, community-driven model of family support services across Southern Illinois, with a focus on maternal-child health, recovery-oriented systems of care, and prevention of child welfare involvement. The Director leads efforts in program design, grant development, partnership cultivation, and regional systems alignment, ensuring that SIRACs family support services are responsive to emerging needs, grounded in evidence-based practices, and positioned for long-term growth and impact. This role prioritizes external leadership, innovation, and infrastructure-building, working closely with internal program leaders to ensure alignment between strategy and service delivery.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESStrategic Development & Program ExpansionLead the design, expansion, and refinement of SIRACs family support service continuum, including BRICK, Family Care Plan, and maternal-child health initiatives.Identify service gaps and emerging community needs through data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and regional trend monitoring.Develop new program models, pilots, and initiatives that align with SIRACs Whole Family Recovery framework and Family-Run Organization (FRO) principles.Align program strategy with state and federal priorities (e.g., maternal health, behavioral health workforce, child welfare prevention, rural health access).Grant Development & Resource AcquisitionServe as the lead strategist for identifying, pursuing, and securing new funding opportunities to expand family services.Develop and write grant proposals, including program narratives, work plans, and outcome measures.Collaborate with finance and leadership to ensure proposed budgets align with program design and funder expectations.Support diversification of funding streams, including public funding, private foundations, and collaborative funding opportunities.Partnership Development & Systems IntegrationBuild and maintain high-impact partnerships with hospitals, health departments, FQHCs, child welfare agencies, early childhood systems, and community-based organizations.Strengthen referral pathways and cross-system coordination to ensure families experience seamless access to care.Lead or co-lead regional collaboratives and initiatives related to maternal-child health, substance use, and family stability.Position SIRAC as a backbone or coordinating agency within multi-sector initiatives.Community Representation & AdvocacyRepresent SIRAC at local, regional, and state-level meetings, coalitions, and policy discussions.Advocate for family-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented approaches in systems serving rural communities.Elevate the voice of families with lived experience by integrating family leadership into program design and community discussions.Contribute to thought leadership through presentations, trainings, and public-facing communications.Data, Outcomes, & Continuous Quality ImprovementUtilize program and community-level data to guide strategic decision-making and demonstrate impact.Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with funder requirements and organizational priorities.Lead evaluation planning and continuous quality improvement efforts across family service programs.Translate data into compelling narratives for grant applications, reports, and stakeholder communications.Internal Alignment & Program SupportCollaborate with Program Coordinators and Directors to ensure alignment between strategic priorities and day-to-day service delivery.Provide high-level consultation on complex cases, program challenges, and service integration (as needed).Support development of policies, workflows, and infrastructure that strengthen program scalability and consistency.Contribute to organizational leadership discussions related to growth, staffing, and sustainability.QUALIFICATIONSMasters degree in Social Work, Public Health, Human Services, or a related field (preferred); Bachelors degree required.Minimum of 5 years of experience in behavioral health, healthcare, child welfare, or social services.Demonstrated experience in program development, grant writing, and/or systems-level work.Experience working across rural or multi-county service regions strongly preferred.Strong understanding of maternal-child health, substance use, family systems, and social determinants of health.Proven ability to build partnerships and navigate cross-sector systems.Experience using data to inform program design and evaluate outcomes.Commitment to trauma-informed care, harm reduction, family empowerment, and stigma reduction.WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment may include a combination of office-based, community-based, and possible remote work dependent on programming needs. Exempt positions are not eligible for overtime. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for participant needs or volunteer events. Schedule to be determined upon hire.
