Our client, a luxury direct-to-consumer coffee product brand, is hiring a Director of Ecommerce for a contract engagement.

This role is the operating leader of a direct-to-consumer (DTC) e-commerce business. You’ll own the full picture: performance reporting and forecasting, growth marketing strategy and agency management, digital product direction, and the cross-functional coordination that keeps a fast-moving e-commerce business running. You’ll lead a team across CRM/retention, site merchandising, SEO, and digital product, while personally driving the analytical and strategic work that shapes how the business grows. This role reports into senior marketing leadership and partners closely with Finance, Brand, Marketing, Product, and Operations.

Key Responsibilities

Performance & Strategy

  • Own weekly and monthly DTC performance reporting; identify drivers, diagnose issues, and drive action
  • Maintain and evolve a top-down revenue forecast; reconcile monthly with agency and Finance models
  • Lead monthly financial review preparation for DTC—build the narrative connecting P&L results to operational drivers
  • Drive annual and ongoing strategic planning for the DTC channel
  • Use AI to automate reporting and elevate analysis quality/speed

Growth Marketing

  • Serve as the internal owner of growth marketing; manage the performance marketing agency relationship
  • Oversee creative production workflows across internal teams and external partners
  • Own paid media strategy; oversee ~$10M in spend allocation, attribution, and performance accountability

Team & Channel Leadership

  • Lead and develop the DTC team across CRM/retention, site merchandising, SEO, and digital product
  • Run a weekly operating cadence focused on problem-solving and prioritization (not just reporting)
  • Manage vendor relationships and tech stack decisions (reviews platform, email/SMS, accessibility, development partners, etc.)
  • Act as the cross-functional connective tissue—advocate for DTC needs, remove blockers, and drive urgency when required

Analytics & Data

  • Lead complex analyses: new vs. repeat customer dynamics, cohort analyses, LTV, product/category performance
  • Leverage analytics and e-commerce data sources (e.g., BigQuery, Amplitude, Looker, Shopify) to inform decisions
  • Build and maintain automated reporting workflows, integrating AI into day-to-day processes

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years in DTC e-commerce, including 2–3+ years in a leadership role owning a P&L or channel
  • Highly analytical; able to build/maintain financial models and make data-driven decisions
  • Experience managing performance marketing agencies; strong understanding of paid media, attribution, and creative production
  • Able to translate data into clear narrative and drive decisions/actions from it
  • Strong cross-functional operator who can influence without authority
  • Experience managing and developing team members
  • Comfortable using AI tools to improve speed and quality of work
  • Thrives in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments; comfortable wearing multiple hats
  • Interest in premium consumer products is a plus
