The Director of Clinical Strategy is a national leadership role within Gallagher’s Innovation Health and Benefits Consulting business line. This position is part of the Clinical Innovation Team, a collective of experienced strategists with deep knowledge across clinical domains, focused on driving cost mitigation and high-quality care delivery. The Director will lead the design, implementation, and management of innovative clinical strategies that improve employee health outcomes and reduce total healthcare costs for Gallagher’s largest and most complex clients.
This role is responsible for translating health plan data into actionable insights and aligning those insights with evidence-based clinical solutions, emerging healthcare technologies, and strategic vendor partnerships. The Director will play a key role in shaping client-specific strategies, developing thought leadership resources, and driving innovation across Gallagher’s consulting ecosystem. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, a consultative mindset, and the ability to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions that align with Gallagher’s mission of protecting people and reducing the total cost of risk.

Required: BA/BS in related field and 7+ years broad consulting and training experience, including designing, implementing, managing and evaluating customized health promotion and/or wellness programs and initiatives in mid- to large sized organizations. Develop strategic department-level initiatives for AJG clients interested in wellness and health management consulting services and plans. Can design multi-year strategies to offer innovative long-range solutions for clients based on review and analysis of health plan and industry trends and changes, client requests and demands, and results of existing plans. Review strategy annually to modify and ensure initiatives continue to support AJG and client goals based on appropriate market, business, or health input considerations. Design and develop strategic multi-year health initiative plans based on specific needs determined by measurable ROI goals, specific to each client. Effectiveness of these initiatives requires knowledge of the company culture, available budgets and a comprehensive understanding of which activities have proven to have the greatest positive impact on lifestyle and claims experience.
Preferred:
MBA, MPH, MHA, or other relevant graduate degree
A minimum of 5 years mentoring and/or leading a team, facilitating trainings, or coaching
A minimum of 3 years project management experience, preferably in a corporate, healthcare, or consulting environment
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, public health, business administration, or a related field
Minimum of 7 years of experience in the benefits and health field (e.g., vendor, carrier, corporate, or broker/consulting), or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Minimum of 4 years of experience directly consulting with employers on clinical or population health strategies
Proven track record of designing and implementing successful clinical program
Technical and/or clinical expertise in interpreting health and pharmacy claims data, with a strong understanding of disease progression and population health dynamics
Experience working with data analytics tools and healthcare technologies
Strong understanding of healthcare systems, clinical practices, and emerging trends in employer-sponsored benefits and healthcare innovation
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex clinical and technical information clearly to clients and internal stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional team
Ability and interest in public speaking, including presenting to large groups (virtually and in-person
Ability and interest in developing thought leadership content such as white papers, case studies, presentations, and training materials
Must be able to travel regionally and nationally, up to 30%
