Director of clinical operations - Hospital Medicine (HM) & Emergency Department (ED)

Location: Southern California

Work Arrangement: On-Site

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Director of HM & ED Operations to lead operational performance and workflow optimization across Emergency Department and Hospital Medicine programs in Southern California. This on-site role requires strong physician engagement, staffing oversight, and data-driven performance improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Lead ED performance metrics including LWOBS, throughput times, door-to-provider, triage times, and CT utilization
Oversee Hospitalist metrics including LOS, CC/MCC capture, and CMI
Develop and manage staffing models, including backup coverage and surge plans
Create and implement policies and workflows to improve throughput, quality, and operational performance
Work directly with ED physicians, hospitalists, nursing leadership, and case management
Monitor performance dashboards and present action plans to leadership
Support new program launches and multi-site operational initiatives

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s (MHA, MBA, MPH) preferred
5+ years of healthcare operations experience, preferably in ED or hospital-based physician services
Experience managing physician-led teams and hospital client relationships
Strong financial and operational acumen; multi-site leadership experience preferred
