Role Summary

The Director, International Strategy supports the international business across all regions and lines of business, partnering with senior leadership on corporate requests, strategy projects, market analysis, business development, internal stakeholder analyses, and recurring executive reporting. The role sits within the International Strategy team at the Los Angeles headquarters and works in close partnership with the SVP, Head of International. This is an individual contributor seat covering for a team member on leave. The team and therefore this role is part of the Global Distribution Group which covers both International Networks businesses and Global licensing. This team supports the international networks business, but also partners more broadly across the Global Content Distribution Group. It also partners with other divisions across Paramount such as DTC and Studios on selected projects as well as Corporate functions such as Corporate Strategy and Corporate Development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead discrete strategy projects end-to-end — scoping, structuring, analysis, recommendation, and executive communication.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from corporate functions (Corporate Strategy, Corporate Development, Finance, Investor Relations, Communications) with structured analysis on tight timelines, including earnings materials and board preparation.
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis across international regions; translate findings into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Support business development activity — commercial partnerships and new market opportunities — through business cases, commercial frameworks, and supporting materials.
  • Partner with Corporate Development on international M&A, joint ventures (including streaming JVs), and other inorganic growth opportunities — contributing analysis, and strategic framing on selected projects.
  • Conduct internal stakeholder mapping and analysis to support cross-functional alignment on major initiatives.
  • Own and produce recurring executive and board-level reporting on international performance and strategic priorities.
  • Support international financial planning processes in partnership with Finance, including the Long-Range Plan (LRP), annual investment plans, and budget cycles.
  • Support corporate transformation initiatives affecting the international business, serving as a connection point between transformation workstreams and international stakeholders.
  • Prepare briefing materials, talking points, and presentations for senior leadership engagements.
  • Partner with DTC, Studios, and other corporate divisions on projects requiring their input or alignment.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Background in top-tier management consulting and/or in-house corporate strategy at a major company.
  • Direct experience in media and entertainment — through prior client engagements, in-house roles, or both.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading projects independently from question to recommendation, with minimal oversight.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills (Excel).
  • Advanced PowerPoint skills; able to produce executive-quality output.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including direct engagement with SVP/EVP-level stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment.
  • Currently based in the Los Angeles area and able to work fully on-site at headquarters.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of relevant professional experience.
  • MBA from a leading program.
  • Direct exposure to international markets through project work, regional roles, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior in-house experience at a major media, entertainment, streaming, or tech-media company.
  • Prior experience supporting senior executives (SVP, EVP, or C-suite) directly.
  • Exposure to corporate development work — M&A, joint ventures, or partnership structuring — particularly within media or adjacent industries.
