    Primary Responsibilities

    The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis - Transportation will serve as the strategic finance partner to Transportation leadership, including the President of Logistics. He/she will translate operational drivers (routing, fleet productivity, cube utilization, backhaul profitability) into financial insights, own forecasting, reporting, and performance management across multiple Transportation P&Ls and ensure financial assumptions are transparent, analytically sound, and aligned with organizational priorities.     Essential Functions

    DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Act as the primary Finance business partner to the Transportation Leadership Team
    • Lead forecasting, annual plan, flash reporting, and monthly P&L variance analysis
    • Oversee close reviews and partners with Accounting on accruals and expense accuracy
    • Convert operational metrics (routes, miles, cube, volume, productivity) into financial impact
    • Build sophisticated, automated models in Workday Adaptive Planning that convert metrics into P&L impact.
    • Present insights in weekly/monthly business reviews and leadership meetings
    • Collaborate with Operations, Accounting, and Systems to improve reporting and data quality
    • Support strategic planning, system enhancements, and deep-dive DC-level analysis

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

    • Strong executive presence required.
    • Advanced proficiency in financial planning, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
    • Significant expertise with Financial Systems (Workday Adaptive Planning & Prism) and Reporting tools such as Power BI.
    • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
    • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and talent development capabilities.
    • Exceptional decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
    • High attention to detail balanced with strong conceptual and strategic thinking abilities.
    • Effective communication and influencing skills with executive and cross-functional stakeholders.

    Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance and/or Accounting required.
    • MBA and/or CPA preferred.
    • Minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis or related finance roles.
    • At least 6+ years of people leadership experience managing and developing professional teams.
    • At least 6+ years in Operations Finance-related roles required, preferably in Transportation
    • Experience partnering with senior leaders in a complex, multi-business or distribution environment preferred.
    • Strong background in enterprise financial modeling, budgeting, and strategic analysis.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time while working at a computer and using standard office equipment. The employee must be able to stand, walk, and move about the office as needed. Occasional light lifting of materials up to 20 pounds may be required. The role involves frequent use of computers, monitors, keyboards, and other office productivity tools. Limited business travel may be required based on business needs.
