Digital Media Specialist

The Digital Media Specialist serves as the primary contact responsible for the technical and creative execution of the College's digital presence, including social media management across all divisions (including athletics), graphic design, photography, videography, and customer relationship management (CRM/Salesforce/TargetX). The Digital Media Coordinator works collaboratively with the Communications and Marketing Coordinator to ensure brand consistency. The Digital Media Specialist reports directly to the Dean of Students.

At a minimum, the essential functions of the Digital Media Specialist are to:

  1. Develop, lead and manage focused social media, CRM, photography, videography and other digital media in support of the College’s overall communications, marketing and public relations strategy.
  2. Operate digital equipment and software to compose excellent graphics, photos and videos that produce quality representation of the College across digital platforms.
  3. Maintains a repository of all media that provides reasonable access to college personnel for reports, data, projects, advertisements, etc.
  4. Proofread various print and electronic publications and materials to ensure proper grammar and business etiquette.
  5. As requested, assist with the production and quality assurance of all brochures, flyers, programs and informational publications that relate to the College and its programs.
  6. Work with various vendors as needed to ensure the printing, production, and quality assurance of informational publications when digital collaboration is necessary.
  7. Maximize effective work relationships and engagement with digital media stakeholders, including timely responsiveness to online and social media inquiries, in a way that promotes consistent, positive and productive coverage of the College and its stakeholders across several different communications channels.
  8. Develop and deliver an inviting and responsive system for digital media requests so that colleagues can easily request promotion and/or graphic design for their departments and events.
  9. Lead and coordinate digital media efforts across all major College events, including timely release of professional photography, and provide media support for college-sponsored events and activities on all campuses.
  10. Work with the Communications and Marketing Coordinator and Dean of Students for assistance with crisis communications for emergencies.
  11. Coordinate resources to manage goals and objectives, including graphic design, digital signage, and all other internal and external communications.
  12. Manage the budget for digital media needs.
  13. Positively represent the College on various local and state committee(s), task force(s), and/or professional organizations to advance the institution’s mission and vison.
  14. Actively participate in staff, division, and committee meetings as assigned.
  15. Maintain absolute confidentiality of institutional and office information.
  16. Perform any other task(s) required by the President and Dean of Students.
  • A minimum of an associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in digital media, journalism, marketing, graphic design, public relations, or a related field is required.

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related role in the public or corporate sector is required.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a related field and four (4) years of successful experience in a graphic design, CRM, social media, digital media, public relations, communications, or marketing role is preferred.

  • Excellent visual, written, and verbal communication and storytelling skills are required.
  • Proficiency in digital photography, graphic design software such as Adobe or Canva, videography, and CRM platform management (ie Salesforce/TargetX, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.) is required.
  • Ability to make independent judgements, solve problems, provide leadership, and work with diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including attentiveness to detail and an ability to prioritize multiple tasks, are required.
  • Willing and understanding of the need for a flexible work schedule as workload dictates.
  • Understand and maintain confidentiality and professional integrity is required.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, internal and external to the College.
