Communications provides strategic communications planning, as well as writing, editing, graphic design, and video production services; facilitates relations with a wide range of news media; provides content strategy, content design, and user experience consultation for the Metropolitan Council’s public-facing website; and maintains an ongoing presence on social media.
How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region:
The Digital Experience Manageris a member of the Met Council Communications’ leadership team, responsible for managing the creation of strategically aligned, usable, accessible, and engaging digital products.
This position is eligible for a hybrid telework arrangement. The candidate's telework location must be in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
Note: Although the full salary range is displayed, the hiring salary will be determined based on the final candidate's qualifications, the Council's internal pay structures, and our total compensation package for the position.
Digital Experience Management & Leadership
- Manage, direct, and coordinate the work of the agency's website and social media channels.
- Supervise the process and governance for specialists responsible for content creation and management.
- Direct the public website redesign, in coordination with an internal steering committee, external vendor(s), and the Assistant Director of Communications.
- Supervise social media specialist and web specialist.
- Participate in the department's team leader meetings.
- Serve as the team’s accessibility expert for digital documents (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and PDF).
- Participate in MNIT’s monthly accessibility coordinators meeting.
Strategy
- Play an active role in developing content strategy, user-experience designs, and execution of visual elements of communications material, including web, social media, e-newsletter, video, and other digital and visual media platforms, in coordination with the communications team’s consultants.
- Work with communications team leaders to produce the overall strategy and topical or timely campaigns.
- Ideate and influence digital strategy across the organization, helping to find ways to utilize and extend web-based communication tools.
- Create plans to carry out the campaigns across all our digital channels for the best customer experience possible for Met Council audiences.
Analytics
- Perform quality control for web and social media content updates, including accessibility checks, SEO, image formats, and content best practices.
- Oversee and support the analysis of data about how our digital communications services (including websites, social media, video) are used by the public. Recommend potential changes and improvements.
- Ensure ongoing digital evaluation and improvement, maintenance, and planning to support branding and content strategy, per governance plans.
- Work with social media and web specialists to compile regular reports on analytics, accessibility scores, comments, engagement, etc.
Production
- Ensure ongoing digital evaluation and improvement, maintenance, and planning.
- Support the creation of documentation and training of staff on web and social media creation and management.
- Support the web content review and retention schedule.
Education/Experience:Any of the following combinations of experience and completed education (degree field of study in communications, marketing, data analysis, customer service, digital marketing, website development, computer science, and information systems),
AND experience in managing the creation ofstrategically aligned, usable, and accessible digital products.
- High school diploma/GED AND nine (9) years of experience. Experience must include at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Associate degree AND seven (7) years of experience. Experience must include at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Bachelor's degree or higher ANDat least five (5) years of experience. Experience must include at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
