Diesel Technician
$24 - $26+ $2 shift Differential | Medora, IN
Responsibilities
- Perform repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles according to company maintenance schedules and driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs) while following all applicable rules, regulations, and policies.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and related issues on heavy trucks and diesel engines, and perform necessary repairs.
- Complete adjustments, repairs, and component replacements on vehicles, equipment, and related systems, including filling and changing appropriate fluids and filters.
- Inspect, repair, and overhaul vehicle support systems such as electrical, air, and brake systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Perform roadside repairs, when qualified and as needed, for the type of vehicle operated.
- Use repair manuals, wiring (electrical) diagrams, and schematics to accurately troubleshoot and repair vehicle or component failures.
- Carry out preventive maintenance tasks on heavy trucks and diesel engines to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Perform mechanical work including component repair, rework, and turboprop-related tasks as required.
- Use stick welding and other repair techniques when needed to complete mechanical and structural repairs.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of labor hours, maintenance orders, and parts usage using a computer or tablet.
- Safely drive service vehicles and move fleet vehicles in and out of the service area, including conducting test drives to verify repairs.
- Care for and properly use personal tools and company-provided equipment to complete all assigned work efficiently and safely.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated experience using repair manuals, wiring (electrical) diagrams, and schematics to troubleshoot and repair vehicle or component failures.
- Ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines and heavy truck systems, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting vehicle systems and performing component repairs and rework.
- Skill in preventive maintenance practices for heavy trucks and diesel-powered equipment.
- Ability to inspect, repair, and overhaul electrical, air, and brake systems on fleet vehicles.
- Experience with basic mechanical repair techniques, including stick welding when required.
- Ability to safely drive service vehicles and move fleet vehicles in and out of the service area, including performing test drives.
- Capability to maintain accurate digital records of time, maintenance orders, and parts usage using a computer or tablet.
- Must provide own tools suitable for heavy truck and diesel repair work.
- Ability to obtain a DOT medical card.
- Comfort working in conditions where clothing and hands may become dirty during daily tasks.

Work Environment
- This role operates in a shop and yard environment where temperatures can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, so comfort working in varying weather conditions is important.
- The schedule is on second shift, typically from 2:00 p.m. to midnight, with the first day spent offsite for orientation.
- Work involves hands-on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic tasks on heavy trucks and diesel equipment, using tools, repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics, as well as computers or tablets for documentation.
- The nature of the work means you should be comfortable leaving work dirty at the end of the shift.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Medora, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $58240.00/yr.
Great Medical benefits (roughly between $45-$65 a week) Yearly Boot Allowance $35 a week tool allowance401K match of 50% up to 6% PTO after 90 days (3 weeks on an arccural basis about 2 hours a week)
