This role supports overnight operations at a heavy industrial site by inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel-powered equipment and mobile fleet vehicles used in cement, aggregates, ready-mix, or similar industrial environments. You will work primarily on heavy-duty trucks, tractors, loaders, forklifts, haul trucks, and industrial support equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation in a fast-paced, production-driven setting.
Responsibilities
You join a stable, long-term industrial organization where many employees build careers and stay through retirement. The role offers consistent overtime and strong earning potential, supported by a competitive hourly structure with time-and-a-half for overtime. Once converted to permanent status, you receive a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and paid holidays, as well as a voucher for steel-toe footwear. The company invests in your growth by providing structured training and the opportunity to certify in specific technical areas, with pay increases available every six months as you advance toward Master Mechanic. You work in a team-oriented environment that values safety, skill development, and long-term career progression.
Work Environment
Work takes place in an open garage environment set in a gravel yard, with much of the work performed in a shaded but hot outdoor area. The setting is a heavy industrial, ready-mix and aggregates operation with dusty, noisy conditions and frequent interaction with heavy machinery and mobile equipment. Training typically runs for about two weeks on a 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. schedule, Monday through Saturday, after which you transition to an overnight-focused schedule aligned with driver activity and production needs. Typical workdays start around 6:00 a.m. and run until the work is finished, which may be a 12-hour shift, with overnight work required and 50–60 hours per week common. You may work across multiple plant locations within the region, including larger high-volume facilities and smaller satellite plants, and may occasionally assist on overnight projects at different sites. The role requires working on catwalks and at heights of 60–80 feet, as well as in confined spaces around heavy trucks, loaders, forklifts, and industrial support equipment. A valid driver’s license is required to move vehicles and equipment as needed, and security-controlled access may be in place at certain plant locations. Appropriate workwear, including steel-toe footwear, is expected, with support provided for safety footwear once permanent.
