Description
Hope House Colorado (HHC) is hiring a Development Officer. As the Development Officer you will be responsible for all aspects of assigned events, outreach activities, various aspects of individual giving, and utilizes the Champion database, Raiser’s Edge, to drive revenue. The DO builds and maintains relationships with individual Champions (donors), and groups of Champions. Above all, the DO has the opportunity to share with Champions the grace of God shown through His work at Hope House Colorado, and to give Champions an opportunity to experience relationship with God through their giving.
What you’ll be doing
Champion Responsibilities
- Developing, cultivating and maintaining a prospect pool of 150-250 champions and moving them through the “PEO” process (Participation/ Engagement/ Ownership)
- Identifying $150,000 - $250,000 in asks for general fund contributions, teen mom in-kind needs and event sponsorships
- Building relationship with Champions, engaging new donors and overseeing the Hope House Young Professional group (HHYP)
- Promoting Hope House Colorado’s Core Values throughout the organization and external relationships
- Performing various database and administrative tasks related to the role
Income Streams & Events
- Owning key donor income streams, including Bedrock Builders (monthly givers) & gift cards, stewarding new and existing donors to meet the annual goals set in the development plan
- Overseeing the HHC annual gala and golf tournament events, in conjunction with the Senior Development Officer, including the program of events, vendor relationships, marketing & other event materials, volunteer coordination and donor appreciation
- Representing Hope House publicly through speaking engagements and attending community events
We want to hear from you if …
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, can exercise good judgement in a variety of situations, and work well with people from all backgrounds with varying degrees of experience (Required)
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, and Raiser’s Edge database experience (Required)
- You are willing to be trained in Mission Increase Foundation’s Transformational Giving Principles and obtain ServSafe® Certification (Required)
- You are available to work onsite at our Arvada location Monday-Friday, with some scheduled evenings and weekends related to the role, including required development events. (Required)
- Have 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit Development work and 2-3 years of experience in event planning (Required)
- Are confident in public speaking and able to express ideas verbally and in writing (Desired)

Salary Range
$55,000 - $74,000 per year (based on experience)
Benefits
Employees who are regularly scheduled to work 24 hours per week or more are eligible for the below benefits
- Health Benefits: Employees may elect medical, dental, vision & life insurance plans.
- Simple IRA: Employees may choose to make salary reduction contributions through HHC’s Simple IRA plan and HHC will match the employee’s contribution up to a maximum of 3% of the employee’s annual salary.
- Vacation: Upon hire, employees earn 6 hours of vacation per paycheck up to 120 hours (3 weeks) in a year. Accruals are adjusted to increase vacation earned per hours worked based on length of employment with HHC.
- Holidays: HHC observes twelve (12) holidays throughout the year. Salaried employees are paid for these holidays according to the nationally recognized observation day for each holiday. In addition, salaried employees are currently gifted either the week of Christmas or the week of New Year’s off, to be scheduled at the discretion of their supervisor.
- Sick Leave: HHC provides eligible employees with Paid Sick and Safe Leave (PSSL) and Public Health Emergency Leave (PHEL) in accordance with the requirements of Colorado's Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA).
- Employer Based Childcare: Employer Based Childcare: Employees receive a discount for their child(ren)’s child care tuition if they are enrolled in the Hope House Colorado Early Learning Center.
- Hope House Colorado is a qualifying employer for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program! HHC provides employees with free assistance navigating the PSLF program to submit their federal student loans for forgiveness.
