Pregnancy Choices, established in 2006, is a life-affirming (do not provide or refer for abortion) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting under-served women, men, and their families in the south metro area of the Twin Cities. We provide crucial services including pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, STD/STI testing, and accurate information about pregnancy, abortion, and alternatives. Our safe, non-judgmental environment positively impacts lives through relationship-building, professional life coaching, and incentive educational programs.

Mission: We partner with women and men experiencing an unexpected pregnancy or relational poverty, and through life coaching uncover new possibilities and sustainable change for families.

Position Description: The Development Director oversees our donor relations and manages our fundraising initiatives. They are responsible for developing our non-profit's fundraising campaigns, communicating with current and prospective donors, and building a stronger development team for our organization. This position involves managing individual and corporate gifts as well as planned and annual giving campaigns.

Essential Functions:

DONOR ENGAGEMENT AND EVENT PLANNING (45%)

  • Develop and oversee our annual fundraising program
  • Generate an annual engagement calendar of activities for donors and alumni to engage in
  • Evaluate effectiveness of events, institute learning into future offerings
  • Collaborate with staff on the management and planning of fundraising events and donor receptions
  • Research public and private grant sources (agencies, corporations and foundations) to identify sources of restricted and unrestricted funding
  • Organize individual donor campaigns (major donors, direct mail and board trustees)
  • Organize solicitation drives for pledges of ongoing support from individuals, corporations, and foundations
  • Cultivate donors by producing specialized correspondences, preparing letters of acknowledgment, scheduling and attending in-person visits
  • Establish a Planned Giving Society to encourage others to make planned gifts

COMMUNICATIONS and MARKETING (25%)

  • Actively engage and maintain ongoing communication with prospective and current donors via phone and in-person meetings
  • Develop print marketing collateral related to fundraising in collaboration with our advertising partners
  • Supervises most development/public affairs matters, particularly the creation of various communications such as the annual donor report, newsletter, recognition correspondence, as well as general content for website
  • Review the organization’s strategic marketing plan, public relations and procedures annually and make changes as necessary

CULTIVATE NEW AND INDIVIDUAL DONORS (25%)

  • Research, qualify, and cultivate current and prospective donors
  • Develop and implements strategic steps to build relationships that will result in gifts in support of the organization’s priorities
  • Capture significant relationship activities, financial projections, and donor information in Network for Good, as it relates to the development portfolio
  • Leverage database to research donors and alumni
  • Provide regular reporting and analysis on prospective donors and gifts

RECORDS AND ACCOUNTING (5%)

  • Maintain accurate donor giving records
  • Ensure timely and accurate report deliveries to funders
  • Maintain accurate accounting of all restricted/unrestricted gift income and its sources

Compensation: $70,000 annual salary.
