Reporting directly to Chief Deputy Clerk or District Clerk, responsible for performing daily clerical operations for the Williamson County District Clerk’s Office.
Performs detailed legal procedures associated with the receipt, review, processing and maintenance of court documents and case files
Provides customer service to internal and external customers
Collects payments for court costs and manages front counter till
Collaborates with attorneys, departments, and litigation parties for necessary documents
Provides customer service and directs incoming calls, faxes, and mail
Copies, files, and audits invoices
Performs extensive data entry and maintains database
Utilizes legal reference materials to perform research related to current laws and procedures
Processes court-related documents
Maintains responsibility for the dismissal docket for District and County Courts
Assists with daily and monthly reports
Attends court, as necessary
Cross-trains for departmental coverage of specialized duty assignments
Maintains knowledge of Code of Criminal Procedure, Rules of Civil Procedure, Family Code, Local Government Code, Texas Property Code and the Texas Legislature
Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
Performs special duties as assigned
Information Clerk Assignment
Opens and processes all incoming and outgoing mail
Files, stamps, and processes all documents in clerk queue
Collects information and responds to inquiries regarding cases, petitions, and other court filings
Serves as department switchboard and directs incoming calls to appropriate department or clerk division
Reviews and processes eFile queue; files pleadings per JCIT standards approved by the Supreme Court of Texas
Interacts with various state, county, local and private agencies

Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying

Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required

High School Diploma or equivalent
One (1) year of clerical experience in a professional office environment, including cash handling and customer service
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Required within thirty (30) days of employment
Valid Texas driver’s license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three (3) years of clerical experience
Three (3) years of cash handling experience
Prior experience working in a legal or government capacity
Prior experience in e-Filing Process
Bilingual in Spanish
Extensive experience in Microsoft applications
