We are looking for a great leader to fill our second Deputy Director position. This position provides leadership, coordination, and oversight at the systems level, and carries out policies, directives, and procedures of the Community Services Board, Board of County Supervisors, and the Virginia Departments of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and Virginia Medical Assistance Services. About This Role:

The Deputy Director assists the Executive Director and works with the Leadership Team to manage and oversee the daily operations of several complex Divisions that involve quality treatment and compliance and strategic planning, provision of services, maintaining and improving community relations, coordinating community activities, grants and new program development and fiscal and administrative processes and implementation.” The Deputy Director works to ensure all services are in compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations and contractual agreements. The Deputy Director provides leadership for development for clinical, administrative, fiscal, and support staff and therefore must possess strong leadership and communication skills and is expected to demonstrate sound judgement in clinical, fiscal and administrative areas.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, counseling, public administration, or a related field
  • 8years ofexperience in an interdisciplinary behavioral health setting in a community-based environment
  • 3 years of experience in comprehensive program development and managing the provision of clinical services
  • 3 years of supervisory experience at a professional level

  • Progressive management andleadershipexperience
  • Exceptional business acumen, strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills,
  • Comprehensive knowledge of best practice, evidence-based services for persons with mental illness, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, infants and toddlers with developmental delays and youth at risk of emotional disturbance
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience enhancing public behavioral health processes and systems to ensure operational compliance with multiple regulatory payer sources in a complex, changing managed care environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the public behavioral health and developmental disability service delivery system to include operational compliance with multiple regulatory payer sources in a complex, changing managed care environment; thorough knowledge of Federal, State, and County laws and regulations affecting behavioral health and developmental disabilities
  • Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of public administration, including public personnel management, budgetary and fiscal management, program evaluation and analysis, and information/data collection and reporting systems
  • Ability to direct and coordinate the activities of a large organization with many diverse functions and programs
  • Ability to develop and implement departmental goals and changes
  • Ability to plan, direct and coordinate the work of a large staff and to manage a large span of control
  • Ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to delegate effectively and communicate clearly and concisely to multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, co-workers, professional colleagues, elected and appointed officials, clients, and the public at large
  • Candidate with experience providing leadership and oversight to behavioral health and developmental disability interdisciplinary teams
  • Experience supervising, guiding, and evaluating the performance of Division Managers and assisting with personnel development.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • Child Protective Services Requirements: Effective 1999, mandated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services 12VA35-105-400 rules and Regulations for Licensing Providers by the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services related to Criminal Registry Checks, a search of the registry of founded complaints of child abuse and neglected maintained by the Department of Social Services.
  • The Selected Candidate is required to complete a Statement of Economic Interests pursuant to Va. Code §§ 2.2-3114, 2.2-3115, and 2.2-3116.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday

Starting Salary Range: $128,680.50 - $205,881.00 Annually
