LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry Pediatric Department is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1, 2 or 3
Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:
- Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients.
- Maintain and stock cabinet
- Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques
- Chart patients according toLSUSDsystems (Axium Computer knowledge)
- Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student
- Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student
- Place rubber dam and directed by dentist or student
- Remove cement supragingivally from dental restorations and fixed restorations
- Knowledgeable of computers.

Job Duties:Duties and responsibilities included but not limited to:As a Dental Assistant 1, 2 or 3 you will Assistin the care of handling of patients during dental treatment which involves setting up, missing, and passing of surgical instruments and materials, taking radiographs, patient education and giving post-operative instructions, cleaning and disinfecting treatment areas after procedures.
- Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients.
- Maintain and stock cabinet
- Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques
- Chart patients according toLSUSDsystems
- Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student
- Expose digital radiographers and expose and develop traditional radiographers and digital photographs (intra-oral and extraoral as directed by the dentist or student.
- Make study models from aligner impressions as directed by the dentist or
- student.

Hours of Operations:8:00 AM-4:30 PM Monday-Friday
Appointment Type: This is a Civil Service position -Probationary Appointment -This position will require selected applicant to be in a probationary status for at least 6 monthsCompensation:Dental Assistant 3 -Pay is dependent upon applicants’ qualifications. There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $15.05 per hour for the Dental Assistant 2 title and $14.06 for the Dental Assistant 1 title with an additional $2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification and or additional $1.50 for EDDA (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant)..This position is part of the career progression group may be filled as a Dental Assistant 1,2 or 3.Please refer to the ‘Job Specifications’ tab located at the top of the LA Careers ‘Current Job Opportunities’ page of the Civil Service website for specific information on salary ranges, minimum qualifications and job concepts for each levelThis position does not require applicants to take a Civil Service test.
