Halifax Area School District Notice of Vacancy for 2026-2027 School Year The Dean of Students works collaboratively with administrators, teachers, students, and families to foster a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment. This role is responsible for addressing student behavior, managing disciplinary concerns, and implementing proactive, data-driven strategies that promote positive student conduct, engagement, and overall well-being. This position is covered by the HEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provide direct support to students through in-class, small group, or pull-out services that are comprehensive, data-driven, and grounded in restorative practices. • Collaborate with staff to develop and implement a holistic approach to addressing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional barriers to students' success. • Lead and facilitate PBIS and MTSS team meetings to ensure alignment of supports and interventions across the school. • Support the implementation of schoolwide positive behavior practices and procedures. • Assist in the design, implementation, monitoring, and adjustment of individualized student plans. • Provide teachers and staff with strategies, coaching, and professional support, including regular updates during faculty meetings. • Develop and monitor data-driven, informal behavior plans for students. • Participate in Data Team meetings and share relevant behavioral data to inform decision-making. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using the district's behavior management system. • Gather and incorporate teacher input regarding students' behavioral and social-emotional progress toward established goals. • Communicate regularly with families, conduct parent conferences, and build strong home-school partnerships. • Provide targeted interventions to students as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal. QUALIFICATIONS: • Demonstrate understanding of trauma-informed practices. • Knowledge of Section 504 plans, IEP processes, and documentation. • Strong understanding of behavior management and de-escalation strategies. • SCM/Safety Care certification preferred. • SAP certification preferred. • Valid K-12 teaching certification.
