We are hiring a Progress Database Engineer to join the Consumer Lending Technology platform engineering organization. This critical position will align to the Auto Finance ‘Finance My Car’ product and will drive success for the overall Wells Fargo Auto originations business by delivering highly available products to our customers. We are looking for an engineer who enjoys and thrives on solving complex problems through innovation and automation. You will join an elite team of site engineers focused on technology transformation by leveraging site reliability engineering practices, agile framework, and modernized toolsets and solutions.
Responsibilities :
• Support Wells Fargo Auto loan originations business and finance my loan product
• Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on end user specialized role.
• Design and implement database in accordance to end user information needs and views.
• Use high speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data techniques.
• Minimize database downtime and manage database performance to provide fast query response.
• Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures, standards and best practices.
• Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security , privacy and integrity.
• Monitor database performance, implement changes , apply new patches and versions when required.
• Database administration, design, analysis, configuration and installation in Progress (OpenEdge) environment.
• Troubleshoot, and analyze production job failures related to data, network file delivery, and server and application issues independently and provide solutions to recovery. Participate in root cause analysis and preventative actions to avoid recurring incidents.
• Participate in the buildout of automation to prevent problem recurrence; with the goal of automating response to all non-exceptional service conditions.
• Apply technology background in software engineering and systems engineering to ensure the applications on-boarded to SRE Site Reliability Engineering are available, have full-stack observability, are integrated with CI/CD, and always-on by introducing continuous improvement through code and automation, continuous testing (performance, functional), and provide operational insight through analytics.
• Introduce enterprise capabilities, tools, and innovation to improve availability in a multi-cloud ecosystem by evolving observability, monitoring, logging, CI/CD integration, continuous testing (performance, functional, ), continuous improvement, and standardization/automation of key SRE metrics and IT Service Operations processes.
• Share support responsibilities for critical applications, to identify systemic issues, conduct blameless post mortems, root cause analysis, and introduce strategic solutions in code that solve the problem and eliminate repeat issues.

• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Knowledgeable in the programming or scripting language
• Strong Experience in backup and recovery, database patching, maintenance and problem solving within Progress Database.
• Experience in leading and supporting upgrade activities within the Oracle 11g and Oracle 12c, 12c and 18c.
• Experience with Med to Large sized databases
• Good understanding of compliance and audit remediation.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with business and applications partners
• Flexibility to adjust work schedule in accordance to the time zone for the market you are supporting
• Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment
• Experience in utilizing performance tuning tools.
• Understand and interpret the reports generated from tools and resolve performance issues.
• Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools.
• 5+ years of Progress Database DBA experience
• Strong technical and task/timeline-oriented skills necessary to ensure projects are completed in a timely and accurate manner
