Dairy Supervisor Position Summary

The Dairy Manager oversees daily operations of the dairy department to deliver a high‑quality, in‑stock, and well‑maintained product selection while providing excellent customer service. This role is responsible for inventory control, merchandising, compliance, and supporting department operations in alignment with company policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Promote a friendly, service‑oriented atmosphere with a focus on fast and helpful customer assistance
  • Assist customers with product questions and recommendations
  • Respond to customer concerns and escalate issues to store leadership when necessary

Department Operations

  • Manage daily dairy department operations, including rotation, stocking, and product presentation
  • Ensure proper cleanliness, organization, and appearance of the department, coolers, and equipment
  • Build, maintain, and replenish dairy displays according to company standards

Inventory & Ordering

  • Control inventory levels to ensure adequate quantity, quality, and freshness of all dairy products
  • Order, stock, and rotate product according to division directives
  • Monitor backroom organization and ensure orderly, in‑stock conditions
  • Assist with physical inventories as required

Merchandising & Pricing

  • Ensure dairy items are correctly priced, signed, and displayed
  • Rotate and remove outdated or damaged product to maintain freshness standards
  • Execute promotional and seasonal merchandising plans

Shrink, Safety & Compliance

  • Control shrink and product loss through proper handling, rotation, and storage
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, labeling, and code‑dating requirements
  • Maintain proper product temperatures in all phases of storage and display
  • Follow and enforce all workplace safety rules and procedures

Receiving & Administrative Duties

  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, and stocking merchandise
  • Accurately complete daily logs, sales, labor, and other required department paperwork
  • Maintain accurate department records in accordance with company guidelines

Operational Support

  • Assist in other areas of the grocery department as needed
  • Implement emergency procedures during equipment or system malfunctions
  • Follow company grooming, dress code, and conduct standards
Qualifications

Required

  • Previous grocery or retail experience, preferably in a perishable department
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in refrigerated environments
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks

Preferred

  • Knowledge of dairy product handling, rotation, and food safety standards
  • Familiarity with electronic ordering systems and inventory tools
Work Schedule & Environment
  • Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
  • Works primarily in temperature‑controlled environments with frequent exposure to refrigerated conditions
