Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cytotechnologist to join a respected hospital‑based laboratory team. This role focuses on the preparation, staining, screening, and interpretation of both gynecological and non‑gynecological specimens—including fine needle aspirations. The Cytotechnologist will work alongside Pathologists to ensure accurate and timely identification of abnormalities while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory, quality, and confidentiality standards.

This full‑time, Monday–Friday position offers a stable schedule within a collaborative, professional laboratory environment.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities

  • Prepare, stain, and microscopically evaluate cytologic smears and cell blocks.
  • Completely and accurately screen and interpret all cytologic specimens.
  • Assist with the processing of specimens collected through CT‑guided procedures as needed.
  • Ensure all specimens are properly logged into the laboratory information system with complete, correct patient and specimen identification.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and adherence to confidentiality requirements.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Follow all laboratory policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Maintain equipment logs and perform scheduled maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor departmental supplies and communicate needs proactively.
  • Collaborate professionally with physicians, coworkers, patients, and guests.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of cytologic preparation, staining, and evaluation.
  • High degree of competency in identifying cellular abnormalities.
  • Strong organizational skills and accuracy, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a laboratory team.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and patient‑centered care.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Completion of an accredited Cytology Program.
  • ASCP Cytotechnologist Certification (CT(ASCP)) required.
  • 1+ year of cytology experience strongly preferred.
