Work Schedule:Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm
Job Responsibilities
Screen and evaluate any gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens sent to the laboratory for the determination of possible malignant or related abnormal conditions
Screening of all liquid based cytology, both manual and imaged, as well as conventional slides
Perform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens following laboratory procedures and policies
Ensure proper documentation of workload recording, including screening and non-screening activities as required by CLIA and laboratory guidelines
Maintain absolute integrity in theaccurateperformance and reporting of results
Meet slide screening requirements as per standard operating procedure
Finalize testing results into the computer inan accurateandtimelymanner
Provide backup for cytology processing and other tasks as needed
Comply withall safety, infectioncontroland HIPAA policies
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree inaChemical or Biological science,CytologyClinicalLaboratory ScienceorMedical Technology
Completion ofaCytology program
ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification
Preferred Qualifications
Masters’ degree in Cytology
3 months or more of Cytologyexperience
ThinPrepandSurePathcertifications

Able to pass slide screening requirements and annual CAPproficiencytest
Demonstrated understanding ofCytopreparation techniques
Automated and non-automated testing experience
Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
Experience in ahigh volumeclinical laboratory environment
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
High levelof attention to detail along withstrong communicationand organizational skills
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
