Cyber Security Engineer – AVP

$135,000 – $150,000 per annum + annual discretionary bonus


On behalf of a Leading financial services organisation, Iam seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer (AVP level) to strengthen its global security posture. This role sits within a high‑performing Security Engineering function and focuses on enhancing, operating, and evolving enterprise‑grade security controls across on‑prem and cloud environments.


You’ll work closely with Security Architecture, Security Operations, global IT teams, and external partners to deliver resilient, scalable, and secure solutions that protect a mission‑critical technology estate.


The role is offered on a hybrids basis and requires a none-negotiable 2 days in their Iselin, NJ offices, therefore you must be within reasonable reach of this location.


Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation’s security strategy.
  • Provide expert security guidance to technology and business projects.
  • Research and evaluate emerging security tools, technologies, and services.
  • Operate and maintain core security controls including SIEM, DLP, Vulnerability Management, CTI, Endpoint Protection, Network Protection and more.
  • Review and refine security procedures to ensure alignment with cyber‑resilience requirements.
  • Own and resolve assigned regulatory or internal audit findings.
  • Design and integrate consistent security solutions across on‑prem and cloud environments (Vulnerability Management, Endpoint Security, Data Security, Network Security, IAM).
  • Monitor and enforce secure configurations across cloud‑deployed systems.
  • Oversee security design principles for third‑party solution providers.


Experience / Skills required:

  • 5+ years’ experience in information security, including 2+ years in a security engineering role.
  • Deep knowledge of one or more: firewalls, TCP/IP, IDS/IPS, DLP, web proxies, email security, endpoint protection, SIEM.
  • Experience of working in an M365 and Azure envrionment would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise security frameworks, secure design principles, and threat‑driven control tuning.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across teams to drive security outcomes.
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management capabilities.
  • Financial‑services experience is advantageous.
  • Security related degrees or industry recognised certifications are preferred.
