Lee County is hiring a Customer Service Specialist for our Utilities Team.

Under the general supervision of the Utilities Customer Service Supervisor, this position is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service via phone, email, in-person, and written correspondence. You will handle a variety of customer account activities, including billing, account maintenance, service requests, and payment processing.


This role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.

What You Will Do
  • Provide courteous and professional assistance to customers via phone, email, or in person.
  • Maintain accurate utility account records and respond to customer inquiries.
  • Review and process New Account Applications, Transfers, and Disconnection Requests.
  • Generate reports and process service work completed by Meter Services.
  • Schedule and close service orders, including disconnections for non-payment.
  • Apply policies and procedures in interactions with customers, developers, homeowners, engineers, architects, and other utilities.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication in all forms (verbal and written).
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with customer information.
What We're Looking For
  • Education:High School graduate or GED or similar experience
  • Experience:One (1) year of fast-paced, professional customer service or closely related experience
  • Driver's License:Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required

Extra Skills
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, internet navigation, and industry-specific software.
  • Strong math skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret and apply departmental policies and procedures.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience handling confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Flexible availability may be required.

Work Schedule:Monday – Friday, 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
