Job Title: Custodial Maintenance Worker

Department: Building Maintenance

Reports To: Custodial Maintenance Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


General Statement of Duties:

Responsible for the cleanliness of building, offices and lavatories. Work involves routine manual operations with frequent instructing and checking by the supervisor.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean floors, walls, furniture, windows, lights and vacuum carpet.
  • Strip and wax floors, shampoo carpet.
  • Clean lavatories.
  • Remove trash and keep trash area clean.
  • Maintain inventory of assigned custodial supplies.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.


Supervision Received:

Perform duties under the supervision of the Custodial Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong commitment to civil and human rights.
  • Knowledge of janitorial/cleaning practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to work in a standing position as required.
  • Dexterity.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • Oral and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • · Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • · Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Education, Training and Experience:

  • High School diploma or its equivalent training and/or experience.
