As a financial analyst on the Insurance Credit Analysis Group (ICAG) team, you will be responsible for reviewing statutory financial statements for new potential insurance company relationships and provide ongoing financial/analytical monitoring of a portfolio of insurance entities where relationships already exist. The ICAG supports a dozen businesses across Wells Fargo to provide decision making and serve as a subject matter expert around insurance company solvency risk for P&C and life/annuity carries. The primary focus of our work is from a policyholder perspective which necessitates analysis of the statutory financial results of the operating companies under consideration. The scope of our work includes both retail and institutional work.
Within the Wells Fargo Risk Management framework we are a key control in the management and oversight of insurance company solvency risk. We utilize a host of third party vendors and technology tools to complete the work. The ICAG is responsible for a strong governance framework within which decisions are made and communicated to key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: account relationship management, credit analysis, credit underwriting management, or risk experience demonstrated through work or military experience
Desired Qualifications
- A BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, or economics
- A BS/BA degree or higher in business or management
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
- Excellent analytical skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Facilitation skills, including ability to facilitate decision-making and broker agreements amongst diverse, differing, and/or conflicting perspectives/priorities
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
Other Desired Qualifications - Financial or Insurance designations such as CPCU, CIC, CLU, CFA, etc.
- Experience analyzing statutory financial statements of insurance companies (P&C and/or Life)
- Familiarity with S&P Global Market Intelligence Pro + (fka SNL) tools, templates, etc.
- Familiar with share-point design/layout
- Experience with models and model risk
- Expertise with SAS programming
- Prior work experience in insurance - property casualty and/or life/annuity sectors
- Familiar with insurance products/services
- Familiar with reinsurance concepts
- Education/experience in accounting/finance/economics/actuarial science
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment in a manner consistent with Wells Fargo's vision and values
- Ability to work with large data sets
- Ability to interpret large amounts of data and distill it into actionable overall perspective
