Crane and Hoist Technician

$25 - $35+/hr | Indianapolis, IN

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and periodic inspections on overhead cranes, hoists, rigging, and related lifting equipment in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Identify wear, safety issues, and potential failures on mechanical, electrical, and structural components, and clearly recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime for customer operations.
  • Install, assemble, and commission overhead cranes, hoists, trolleys, control systems, and auxiliary equipment at customer sites.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical components such as motors, brakes, gearboxes, bearings, and wire rope.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical components and systems including electrical controls, contactors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and pendant or radio controls.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues to determine root causes and implement effective solutions.

Essential Skills

  • 2–3 years of experience as an industrial service technician or in industrial maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including motors, brakes, gearboxes, bearings, and wire rope.
  • Good understanding of electrical theory for power and controls, including the ability to work with controls, contactors, VFDs, and pendant or radio controls.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $72800.00/yr.
