The Court Operations Supervisor provides leadership and operational oversight for the Municipal Court, ensuring efficient, compliant, and customer-focused services. This role is responsible for supervising and developing court staff, managing daily operations, and maintaining adherence to judicial, statutory, and administrative requirements. The position serves as a key liaison between internal teams, external agencies, and the public, ensuring accurate communication of court processes and timely resolution of issues. Additionally, the role supports technology implementation, financial balancing, and procedural updates, while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement. Acting as a resource for complex inquiries, this position plays a critical role in upholding the integrity and effectiveness of court operations.
The Court is located at 3030 Turnpike Drive and operates Monday-Thursday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, and will require rotational Saturday/Holiday Court coverage.
The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate. This position supports the goals of the Chief of Staff’s Office, which coordinates and oversees cross-departmental initiatives and activities across a wide range of municipal systems, services, and programs. This includes managing the Municipal Court Division, the City Clerk’s Division, the City Hall Operations Division, the City’s justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts, as well as the Policy & Budget Division. This position also directly supports the goals of the Municipal Court to administer equitable, fair, and impartial justice in a timely and courteous manner; protect fundamental rights; promote public safety; and facilitate community reparation through SPIRIT.

Essential Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks
Leadership and Staff Development
Supervise, train, and evaluate staff; address performance issues and recommend disciplinary actions or advancements
Assist with recruitment, interviewing, and hiring decisions
Oversee daily operations and scheduling of court staff; ensure compliance with policies and procedures
Support staff with difficult customer inquiries and ensure information is provided per open records and legal guidelines
Supervise Saturday/Holiday Court on a rotational basis with the Court Leadership Team
Serve as Acting Court Administrator when needed
Internal Court Operations
Ensure compliance with Court judicial, administrative, statutory, and local policies and procedures
Support necessary procedural updates based on legislative updates and requirements
Communicate court rules and processes to staff and the public
Resolve system issues and coordinate with external agencies (e.g., CCIC, DMV)
Collaborate with IT on technology implementation and gain expertise to manage the court records system
Maintain court calendars, documents, and automated workflows in the court record management system
Manage electronic court recordings
Complete the daily balancing for the Court
Back up courtroom clerks as necessary
Oversee the Electronic Citation Import process from the Police Department
Review operations for improvements and recommend modifications
Schedule Pro Team Judges as needed
Maintain CCIC certification and current on entry and clearance of warrants and protections orders
Partner with other courts to share best practices, benchmark data, and identify joint opportunities
External Court Operations
Oversee the Public Defender coverage and maintain necessary coverage calendars
Provide informal supervision and direction to the contract security guards
Maintain the monthly arraignment calendar created for the Police Department
Update court webpages as necessary
Maintains regular and punctual attendance

Graduation from high school or GED
Four (4) years’ experience in a court setting, municipal court experience is preferred
Demonstrates strong computer skills with extensive knowledge of Microsoft products and a general understanding of court records management systems
Pass pre-hire Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) criminal background check and fingerprinting
Preferred:
Experience with the FullCourt records management system, including table maintenance and form development
Experience with other court record management systems
Prior supervisory experience
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social sciences, business administration, finance, accounting, court management, or related field
NACM CORE Champion or National Center for State Courts (NCSC) court management program completion
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered Physical Requirements Work is sedentary in nature and requires sufficient physical stamina and strength for:
Constant sitting to perform daily tasks; occasional walking through a multilevel facility to retrieve information; frequent standing, sometimes for extended periods
Frequent squatting, reaching above shoulder, and twisting to file documents and lift supplies and material; occasional bending, kneeling, climbing, balancing, and reaching below shoulder to store documents, material, and supplies

WORKING CONDITIONS Work is constantly performed indoors. This is primarily sedentary office work. Must demonstrate the ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including the ability to retrieve information from various locations in the office when needed. Exposure to periods of high activity and stress under demanding conditions. The position requires a great deal of communication with City employees, the public, and outside agencies.
