Beaverton Municipal Court is hiring a Court Operations Supervisor to help oversee daily operations of one of the busiest municipal courts in the State of Oregon. The Court Operations Supervisor is part of a three-person leadership team (a Court Administrator and two Supervisors) that provides day-to-day support for the Court’s employees and operations. Beaverton Municipal Court and its staff process approximately 1,700 misdemeanors and 30,000 violations each year. A typical week for a supervisor will include training and coaching employees, filling in for an absence in the courtroom, preparing budget or billing documents, working with a customer in person or on the phone to answer a tricky question or meet a complicated need, and coordinating with other city departments including Beaverton Police Department and the City Attorney’s Office.

This is a full-time, exempt, Management 2 (M2) position. Due to the operational nature of this position, the Court Operations Supervisor is expected to work primarily in-person at the Court, Monday-Friday. There is one vacancy.

  • Supervise the daily operations of Beaverton Municipal Court and ensure that the goals of the Court and the City are met. Develop and implement work plans, procedures, and policies. Evaluate program performance and make improvements as needed.
  • Plan, assign, monitor, review and evaluate the work of Court staff, including hiring, training, coaching, providing feedback and performance evaluations, and scheduling.
  • Interpret and explain policies and procedures to Court and city staff and the public. Respond to complaints and to unusual or complex requests for information. Handle confidential and sensitive information on a regular basis.
  • Perform highly technical or specialized tasks, including financial transactions, case research, and preparing orders for judges. Provide guidance to other staff on non-standard transactions or requests.
  • Fill in for other Court staff during absences or high workload periods.
  • Help prepare and monitor the Court’s budget by compiling, projecting, and analyzing data. Review expenditures and research and reconcile variances.
  • Advise the Court Administrator of the capabilities, performance, and needs of the Court operations unit. Participate in special projects or studies as assigned.
  • Model and coach employees on excellent internal and external customer service. Support professional, courteous behavior with a creative approach to problem resolution that creates a positive experience for the customer.
  • Carry out all duties with integrity and in compliance with city policies and applicable laws.

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and
  • Five years of administrative support experience in a court, legal, or other criminal justice setting, including
  • One year of experience in a lead or supervisory role; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.


Licensing and special requirements

  • Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) fingerprints must be completed and cleared prior to start date.
  • Ability to acquire CJIS certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to satisfy the requirements of a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to acquire Law Enforcement Data Systems (LEDS) certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to pass reference checks and education verification and satisfy the requirements of a background check.

Salaryrange:$6,823.92 - $9,143.41 monthly

Starting pay within the posted range is based on a review of your related work experience, as required by the Oregon Equal Pay Act. We compare the experience shown in your application materials with the qualifications for the position. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will start at step one. Applicants whose work history clearly demonstrates additional directly related experience may be placed at a higher step within the range.
