FULL TIME - Hybrid role based out of Ft. Mill SC or Burlington WA

Compensation: $115k -$125k plus 15% Bonus + Relocation Package, Benefits, etc.


Position Summary:

The Corporate Trade Compliance & Import Operations Manager is a hands-on, mid-to-senior level individual contributor responsible for managing U.S. import operations with a focus on China-origin goods and high-risk imports, including solar-related materials. This role combines day-to-day import coordination with broader trade compliance responsibilities, including trade remedies, customs enforcement, and documentation management. The ideal candidate is highly operational, detail-oriented, and able to step into complex import workflows immediately, driving accountability and efficiency across internal teams, brokers, and government agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Compliance & Import Operations

  • Manage daily import and export compliance activities for international shipments, with strong hands-on coordination with suppliers, brokers, and CBP.
  • Oversee entry review, HTS classification, issue resolution, and documentation accuracy at the shipment level.
  • Apply and maintain compliance with trade remedies (ADD/CVD), Section 301 tariffs, and USMCA/CUSMA.
  • Utilize bonded warehouse / FTZ operations for duty optimization and complex import flows.
  • Track and resolve high-risk imports, including clearance delays, missing documentation, and broker discrepancies.
  • Support customs clearance and licensing for controlled exports and restricted shipments.

Program Management & Compliance

  • Lead development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s import compliance program.
  • Manage import licenses, product classifications, USMCA/CUSMA records, anti-dumping / countervailing duty data, and other regulatory documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of U.S. and foreign import/export laws, regulations, and trade policy updates.
  • Serve as the primary compliance contact for government audits, CBP/CBSA inquiries, and regulatory investigations.

Broker, Vendor & Agency Coordination

  • Act as liaison with customs brokers, carriers, and service providers to enforce accountability and operational excellence.
  • Review and reconcile broker invoices, coordinate corrections, and support Accounts Payable processes.
  • Drive daily problem-solving on shipment-level issues, ensuring compliance and timely delivery.

Training, Audit & Risk Management

  • Design and lead internal trade compliance audits to identify risk areas.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to improve operational understanding of import/export regulations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to implement process improvements across import/export and supply chain security workflows.

Financial & Reporting Support

  • Analyze duty, tax, and customs data for reporting and reconciliation.
  • Support month-end and year-end compliance activities.
  • Maintain compliance records, documentation, and database integrity for audit readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Trade Compliance, Customs, CBSA diploma, or related certification preferred.
  • 8+ years of U.S. import operations and trade compliance experience, preferably with China-origin goods.
  • Hands-on experience with trade remedies (ADD/CVD), Section 301 tariffs, USMCA/CUSMA, and bonded warehouse operations.
  • Solar / renewable energy import experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of CBP, CBSA, and other international customs regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required); database and records management expertise.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
