What we are looking for

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Corporate Counsel to join our legal team. The Corporate Counsel will play a vital role in supporting our operations team with legal guidance and expertise, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and managing legal risks associated with property management.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide legal counsel to the operations team on a variety of issues related to MHC management, including lease agreements, tenant disputes, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, leases, and agreements with tenants, vendors, and service providers to ensure the company’s interests are protected.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with property management laws, zoning regulations, and environmental laws, and provide training to staff on compliance matters.
  • Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, including advising on best practices for operations.
  • Assist in the resolution of disputes and litigation involving the company, working closely with outside counsel as needed.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement policies and procedures that align with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Conduct legal research and provide analysis on emerging issues that may impact the company’s operations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, human resources, and compliance, to ensure cohesive operations.
  • Other tasks as needed or assigned by management


Position Qualifications / Minimum Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, finance, real estate, or law) preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in corporate law, preferably in real estate or property management.
  • Strong understanding of laws and regulations governing property management, landlord-tenant law, and real estate transactions.
  • Experience in managing disputes, including litigation or alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with various departments, such as operations, finance, and HR, to provide legal support and advice.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Some travel (1-2 trips annually).
