After nearly four great years, our current chef is moving on to their next chapter. The Lodge at Forest Grove is now looking for our next chef to join our team and make their mark by creating exceptional meals for our guests.


About Us

The Lodge at Forest Grove is an Orvis Endorsed fly fishing lodge located just outside Missoula, Montana. We are a family-owned operation with a strong, experienced team of guides who have been with us for years. Our guests travel from across the country to enjoy world-class fishing, beautiful surroundings, comfortable accommodations, and outstanding food.


Position Overview

This is a hands-on role that offers a high level of independence. The chef is responsible for delivering a top-tier dining experience while maintaining an organized, clean, and efficient kitchen.


Responsibilities


  • Plan, prepare, and execute daily meals: breakfast, guide lunches, appetizers, dinner, and dessert
  • Grocery shopping and inventory management
  • Manage food costs and kitchen organization
  • Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, and consistency
  • Ensure proper food storage, rotation, and cleanliness
  • Wash dishes and maintain overall kitchen cleanliness
  • Establish and follow cleaning and maintenance schedules for kitchen and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with health and sanitation regulations
  • Engage with guests and help create a welcoming, comfortable lodge atmosphere
  • Accommodate dietary restrictions and special requests



Work Schedule & Benefits

Schedule will vary depending on the season. Breakfast is typically early morning, with lunches prepared to go, and dinner service in the evening. The chef manages their own daily workflow.

Qualifications


  • Experience as a chef or in a similar role preferred
  • Strong understanding of meal planning, prep, and kitchen management
  • Ability to work independently and stay organized
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment
  • Ability to accommodate dietary restrictions (gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, etc.)
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
