Columbia Machine is looking for Controls Engineers to design, program, test, and support automation systems for custom capital equipment used in manufacturing environments worldwide.
This is a hands-on controls engineering role focused on machine automation, PLC programming, HMI development, motion control, and equipment commissioning. We are seeking engineers who enjoy solving complex machine control challenges and working directly with automated machinery.
What You'll Be Working On
• Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix PLC programming
• FactoryTalk View HMI development
• Motion control systems including servo drives, VFDs, and positioning systems
• Electrical schematic review and development
• Equipment startup, commissioning, FAT, and SAT activities
• Troubleshooting machine controls, industrial networks, and automation systems
• New machine development and existing product improvements
• Working closely with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and service teams
Preferred Experience
• Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000 programming
• FactoryTalk View ME or SE
• Allen-Bradley ControlLogix or CompactLogix
• PowerFlex drives
• Servo and motion control systems
• Industrial networking (EtherNet/IP)
• Machine automation and OEM equipment
• Robotics integration experience is a plus
• Capital equipment, packaging, palletizing, material handling, wood products, or industrial machinery experience is highly desirable

Qualifications
Controls Engineer II
• 3-7 years of PLC/HMI programming experience
• Experience supporting or commissioning industrial automation equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot and modify existing control systems
Controls Engineer III
• 8+ years of controls engineering experience
• Experience independently designing and programming complete machine control systems
• Strong troubleshooting, commissioning, and project ownership experience
