Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Controls Engineer 1. The work will be done onsite in Peoria, IL. This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $41.50/hour + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).


Job Summary

The Controls Engineer 1 will support the design, development, and validation of control systems for advanced machine technologies, including telematics and remote services. This role involves testing, troubleshooting, and improving control systems across multiple machine platforms. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure systems meet performance, safety, and quality standards. This position provides hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology and strong opportunities for professional growth.


Key Responsibilities

• Support electrical and control system design from concept through implementation

• Test, evaluate, and calibrate control systems and related equipment

• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and process-related issues across machine platforms

• Analyze system requirements and perform technical calculations for control system design

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate and improve system performance


Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field)

• 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships accepted)

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

• Basic experience with electrical troubleshooting and engineering tools

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CAN and Ethernet systems

• Familiarity with Python, Power BI, or similar tools

• Exposure to machine controls, telematics, or embedded systems

• Experience working in lab, field, or testing environments
