Controls Engineer

Pay: $60-$67

Location: Palo Alto, Fremont, Hayward

Duration: 3 Month contract to hire

Insight Globals top client is looking to hire someone to join their design team supports advanced R&D and manufacturing facilities across the Bay Area and beyond. This role focuses on optimizing Building Management Systems for both operations and high‑quality data collection.

You will work between Facilities Operations and Data Science teams to ensure building systems produce reliable data for predictive analytics and machine learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with facilities teams to identify and instrument critical sensors and control points
• Translate ML data requirements into actionable BMS and controls work
• Audit trend data for accuracy, gaps, and sensor or network failures
• Design and maintain data flow from BMS edge systems to cloud or on‑prem platforms
• Program and configure DDCs and Siemens PLCs using standard industry protocols
• Develop control sequences, alarms, dashboards, and GUIs in Ignition, WebCTRL, or Desigo
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues impacting data quality
• Support new construction, upgrades, and legacy system enhancements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of BMS or controls engineering experience
• Hands‑on experience with Ignition, ALC WebCTRL, or Siemens Desigo
• Strong knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, Profinet, and networking fundamentals
• PLC and DDC programming experience using IEC 61131‑3 languages
• Experience with low‑voltage wiring, sensors, and field troubleshooting
• Python or Jython scripting and SQL database experience
• HVAC, energy management, or building systems expertise

Nice to Have

• CEM, BAP, or similar certifications
• Experience with time‑series databases and VFD integration
