Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Controls Design Engineer with strong expertise in Building Management Systems (BMS) and data center controls. This role involves designing and supporting end-to-end facility control systems for mission-critical environments including data centers and telecom infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will lead controls engineering efforts across the full project lifecycle—from design and development through testing, commissioning, and deployment—while collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complete BMS/FMS control systems for data centers and critical facilities
  • Create engineering deliverables including schematics, I/O lists, riser diagrams, and sequences of operations (SOO)
  • Support projects from pre-sales through commissioning and final handover
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and architectural teams for integrated system design
  • Work with vendors and third-party partners to develop control strategies using PLCs and relay-based systems
  • Generate bills of materials and customize standard solutions based on project requirements
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and regulatory standards
  • Review and approve technical submittals and construction documentation
  • Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning activities
  • Provide on-site support, system audits, and troubleshooting as needed
  • Utilize tools such as AutoCAD/Revit for design documentation
  • Apply communication protocols such as Modbus, SNMP, TCP/IP, and RS-485

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of experience in controls engineering, preferably in BMS or data center environments
  • Strong understanding of BMS/FMS design, installation, and integration
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar engineering design tools
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, SNMP, TCP/IP, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on data center or mission-critical infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with modular construction environments
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (a plus)
  • Experience coordinating with contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies
