Atrium is seeking on behalf of our client a Controller based in Brickell.

Compensation: 110-135k plus bonus

Position Overview

The Controller will oversee financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with internal controls. This role involves managing accounting processes, monitoring investment activities, and collaborating with senior leadership and external partners. The ideal candidate will maintain financial integrity while supporting strategic decision-making. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve transaction information from online brokerage and bank accounts to maintain accurate records.
  • Align activities and balances with internal systems to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Track and monitor investment activities, including distribution announcements, K-1s, capital calls, and NAV Statements.
  • Accurately record cash activities and valuation revisions to maintain up-to-date financial data.
  • Collaborate with the CFO, Senior Controller, and external parties such as lawyers, tax accountants, brokers, and bankers.
  • Oversee the accounts payable procedure to ensure timely and accurate payments.
  • Assist with benefit and payroll administration to support HR and finance functions.
  • Participate in ad hoc initiatives as needed to support organizational goals.

Required Experience/Skills

  • Prior experience with QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong understanding of capital markets, multiple asset classes, and fund accounting (PE/Hedge Funds).
  • Knowledge of hedge fund and private equity alternative investment industries, including fund structures, legal documentation, accounting, operations, and compliance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact with C-Level professionals internally and externally.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and multitask effectively.

Preferred Experience/Skills

  • Familiarity with Expensify and/or Bill.com is a plus.
  • CPA designation is desirable but not required.
  • Experience working in environments with complex investment structures.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required.
