Controls Engineer | Manufacturing Automation & Roll Forming


A growing manufacturing organization seeking a Controls Engineer to support automation, troubleshooting, and optimization of roll forming equipment and plant control systems. The ideal candidate has strong SCADA, PLC, and HMI skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, install, optimize, and support industrial control systems used to automate manufacturing processes
  • Develop control schematics, process diagrams, and SCADA block diagrams
  • Configure and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems (Allen-Bradley and Siemens)
  • Diagnose failures involving sensors, actuators, drives, and networked control components
  • Support testing, validation, and documentation of electrical systems and instrumentation
  • Troubleshoot machine downtime, quality issues, and system failures across roll form equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance and equipment improvements to increase reliability
  • Maintain documentation for electrical configurations and equipment changes
  • Train internal team members on controls systems as needed
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, and internal safety standards


Required Qualifications

  • Experience working with PLCs and industrial automation systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Working knowledge of: 3-phase industrial electrical systems, control wiring and safety, and circuits HMIs, sensors, relays, and Ethernet-based control networks
  • VFDs and motion-related components
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to work independently
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, and production teams


Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
  • Past work experience in roll forming or metal stamping environments
  • Exposure to SCADA systems
  • Mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting experience
