As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

CCS Risk Management is looking for an experienced Credit Portfolio Consultant to support collections strategy & analytics, reporting and strategy implementation.  This includes using analytics and other tools to re-develop and monitor collections and recovery strategies, provide collections oversight and be able to explain the impact of collections performance on delinquency trends as well as working with operations teams to implement operational best practices via test and control approaches.

Qualified candidates must have excellent communication skills, high degree of initiative, strong partnering and interpersonal skills, solid project/process management skills, as well as critical analytical thinking and SAS coding skills. Qualified candidates must also possess a results driven attitude committed to quality work.

Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Portfolio analytics including identifying portfolio drivers and providing in-sights into how these drivers are impacting our loss forecast/overall portfolio
  •  Provide analytics to help understand how our Recovery strategies are impacting our portfolio
  • Extraction and compilation of data from various sources
  • Perform analysis and reporting to support management decision-making and strategic objectives with quantitative approaches
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with multiple teams including Collections Operations and Risk Management Loss Forecasting
  • Conduct industry benchmarking exercises for Collections and Recovery
  • Present results and recommendations to senior management

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven ability to do innovative analytical work
  • Excellent SAS/SQL, and Excel skills performing complex large data manipulation
  • Read, store, manipulate, efficiently join, and modify large datasets
  • Summarize, and produce analytical insights for presentation
  • Strong desire to work with new data sources – including cleansing, scrubbing and reconciling
  • Microsoft Office package knowledge/experience required
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete projects on time
  • Must be able to learn and work independently while managing time and priorities efficiently
  • Good verbal communication, written documentation and presentation skills 
  • An undergraduate degree in a quantitative field (econometrics, business administration, engineering, operations research, statistics, mathematics, etc.)


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in risk role
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • 5+ years of credit risk experience
  • 5+ years of experience with SAS or SQL, or other data management, reporting and query tools
  • 5+ years of experience working in a data driven environment


Desired Qualifications

  • A Master's degree or higher
  • 5+ years of collections or default experience
  • 5+ years of credit reporting or analytics experience
