Role Summary
Construction site coordinators work on-site to observe, report, and coordinate all construction activities for medium and low voltage substations, underground duct banks, motor control centers, and industrial electrical equipment at a sewer treatment plant. CSC’s will plan and schedule outages while the treatment plant stays online.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee contractors replacing a customer-owned 26 kV substation, 5 kV double-ended unit substations, medium voltage (5 kV) underground duct banks, motor control centers, and low voltage industrial electrical equipment at a sewer treatment plant in Bergen County NJ.
- Work includes outage planning to minimize impact on operations, planning of temporary power to facilitate demolition and replacement of infrastructure, demolition of electric power infrastructure, modifications to electric power infrastructure, and construction of below and above grade electrical facilities in a sewer treatment plant while the sewer treatment plant stays online.
- This position entails working in the field on-site full-time, providing oversight on contractors’ planning and operations while representing the utility owner.
- Administrative work is highly electronic in nature and necessary, which includes review of contractors’ schedules, review of outage and temporary power plans, tracking contractors' labor and equipment, reviewing invoices and change orders, generating detailed daily reports, tracking and doing inventory on materials, preparing outage coordination, and anything else to coordinate and facilitate the work.
- Inspection of construction for quality and conformance to design.
- Coordinating Resolution of RFI’s.
Qualifications & Skills
- Licensed or previously licensed by the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) under the Uniform Construction Code (UCC) is a plus.
- Experience working for an electric utility, construction contractor, or large industrial process power user as an inside wireman, electrician and/or lineman with substation and underground cable experience.
- Experience performing construction oversight/inspection on electrical facilities is highly preferred.
- High school diploma or Equivalent with a minimum of 10+ years working in the electrical utility industry.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Flexibility with work hours, must be able to work long hours, nights, and weekends when necessary.
- Ability to interact and communicate with others in a professional and effective manner.
- Ability to write technically on subject matter and perform all basic engineering math calculations.
- Ability to work in a team environment, satisfying personal responsibilities to achieve a common goal.
- Ability to read and understand all pertinent documents, including plans, specifications, and scope documents.
- Proficiency in computers/computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, Email, etc.
- Position requires a background check, training and current US work eligibility.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Essential for ADA compliance. Detail the physical demands (lifting, sitting, standing) and the work environment (office, field, or hybrid).
Construction Site Coordinators must be able to work on-site in an outdoor setting with various types of terrain. This position requires walking, bending, and standing throughout the workday.

Pay Transparency: In accordance with local law, the range below is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Actual compensation will vary based on specific relevant experience, education, certifications, and other compensable factors.
- Salary Range: $50-$75 per hour.
