Job Title: Construction Materials Technician

Job Description

We are seeking an entry-level Construction Materials Technician to join our team and conduct tests on concrete for slump, density, and moisture in our laboratory. The successful candidate will have several years of experience and be responsible for maintaining effective communication with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor representatives, and other relevant stakeholders about construction site requirements and testing results.

Responsibilities

  • Test concrete for slump, density, and moisture in the laboratory.
  • Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractor representatives about project requirements and testing results.
  • Transport material samples with identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
  • Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
  • Assist with the scheduling and dispatching of technicians to project sites.
  • Adhere to strict safety standards.
  • Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
  • Progressively take on increased responsibilities and training in work assignments.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in concrete testing.
  • Knowledge of construction materials testing.
  • ACI Certification.
  • Previous Construction Materials Testing (CMT) experience of 3+ years.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Possession of KYTC, ICC, or other relevant certifications.
  • Hands-on training for an entry-level civil role.
  • Ability to work in both field and lab environments.

Work Environment

The role involves working on some of the largest projects in the state across various industries, including industrial, power, and private sectors. Typical working hours are Monday to Saturday, ranging from 8 to 10-hour days, with more hours expected during the summer than in winter. There is no guarantee of a 40-hour workweek due to the nature of the industry, but overtime is available after 40 hours. We provide hands-on training and cover the costs of certifications and additional training. The working environment is both in the field and in the lab

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
