Construction Manager

The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the construction of single-family homes from start to finish. This role manages field operations, coordinates subcontractors, ensures adherence to construction schedules, maintains quality standards, and ensures projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

The Construction Manager serves as the primary liaison between the builder, subcontractors, inspectors, and homeowners throughout the building process.


Key Responsibilities


Project Management

  • Oversee the construction of multiple single-family homes simultaneously.
  • Manage projects from site preparation through final completion and homeowner walk-through.
  • Maintain construction schedules and ensure milestones are achieved.
  • Monitor project budgets and control costs.

Subcontractor Coordination

  • Schedule and supervise subcontractors and vendors.
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and building codes.
  • Verify subcontractors follow project timelines and safety protocols.

Quality Control

  • Conduct routine job site inspections.
  • Ensure homes are built according to plans, specifications, and company standards.
  • Identify and resolve construction issues promptly.

Inspections & Compliance

  • Coordinate municipal inspections and approvals.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes.
  • Maintain proper documentation for permits and inspections.

Customer Experience

  • Communicate construction progress with homeowners when applicable.
  • Conduct homeowner orientations and final walk-throughs.
  • Address warranty items and post-construction concerns as needed.

Safety Management

  • Enforce jobsite safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance and safe working environments for all contractors.

Financial & Accounting Coordination

  • Collaborate with the accounting department to ensure accurate tracking of construction costs and project budgets.
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices, change orders, and purchase orders prior to submission to accounting.
  • Assist in verifying job cost allocations and ensuring expenses are properly coded to each project.
  • Provide timely documentation and updates related to project costs, vendor payments, and budget adjustments.
  • Support accounting during monthly cost reviews and project reconciliation.
