Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Skilled Concrete Laborer to support a non-union contractor primarily engaged in municipal work, focusing heavily on repair and replacement projects throughout Saint Louis and Saint Louis County. The work involves sidewalks, stairs/steps, flatwork, and dock/loading dock slabs, along with setting and finishing around grates and frames. This is a year-round position supported by long-standing contracts, with downtime being rare and generally occurring only during severe weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform municipal concrete repair and replacement work, including removal, preparation, placement, and restoration.
• Set forms for flatwork and repairs such as sidewalks, steps, ramps, and slabs.
• Place reinforcement materials like rebar, dowels, and mesh, and assist with layout and grade.
• Pour, spread, screed, float, edge, broom, and trowel to achieve the required finish quality.
• Perform concrete finishing tasks independently or as a lead hand on the crew.
• Set and adjust grates and frames around drainage structures, finishing concrete cleanly to grade.
• Utilize common concrete tools and equipment including hand tools, vibrators, saws, and demo tools.
• Work outdoors in variable conditions while maintaining productivity and quality in a field environment.
• Follow safety standards, PPE requirements, and site-specific municipal and jobsite rules.

Essential Skills

• Approximately 5 or more years of concrete labor experience.
• Proven ability to finish concrete cleanly around edges, fixtures, and structures.
• Experience setting and working around grates and frames with ability to set to grade and finish neatly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Possession of CDL (A or B) can lead to a pay bump and access to emergency work opportunities including overtime and double time.
• Experience with concrete demo including saw cutting, jackhammering, and replacement sequencing.
• Ability to read basic prints/layout or assist with grade using laser/levels depending on crew structure.
• Experience with sidewalk/ADA-style repairs, steps, approaches, and slab replacement work.

Work Environment

The position offers year-round steady work supported by long-standing municipal contracts. Work is conducted outdoors, and crews may pause only during severe weather conditions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $37.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Saint Louis,MO.
