This Compensation & Benefits Manager role offers a unique opportunity to shape the total rewards framework of a cutting-edge IC design organization. We are looking the candidates with 10–15 years (including 5–7 years in leadership roles) in compensation and benefits management from global companies to join our San Jose office.


Overview:

This position is for an accomplished HR Compensation & Benefits Manager to manage our US site total rewards program in the IC design/semiconductor industry. In this leadership role, you will oversee the implementation and management of comprehensive compensation, benefits, and payroll programs that are market-competitive, legally compliant, aligned with our business objectives, and collaborate closely with our HQ Compensation & Benefits team. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge in compensation, benefits strategy, regulatory compliance, data analytics, and payroll operations, with the leadership skills to drive high-impact rewards initiatives across a fast-paced technology organization. Success in this role relies on working globally and building partnerships with key stakeholders, including headquarters across time zones.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Compensation/Payroll Operations & Compliance: Oversee compensation programs, payroll operations, working closely with Finance and People Operation Management teams to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing and integration of compensation changes. Ensure all compensation and benefits of practices are in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., FLSA, ERISA, ACA) and company policies. Maintain rigorous controls and audit processes to uphold data integrity and legal compliance.
  • Benefits Strategy & Administration: Lead the administration of employee benefits programs (health & wellness plans, retirement and savings plans, leave policies, etc.), ensuring they are cost-effective and meet employee needs. Evaluate and negotiate with benefits providers to deliver high-quality, competitive benefit offerings while managing costs.
  • Process Optimization and Efficiency Enhancement: Drive end-to-end process optimization initiatives focused on payroll management, benefits administration, and regulatory compliance. Be capable of leveraging technologies such as AI, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), to redesign legacy processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and strengthen internal controls. Take ownership of solution deployment and change management to ensure effective implementation and measurable impact. Illustrative KPIs include reduction of manual interventions, improved data accuracy, accelerated payroll cycle times, and enhanced compliance performance.
  • Data Analysis & Market Benchmarking: Leverage HR analytics and industry salary surveys to benchmark compensation and benefits against the market, ensuring our total rewards remain competitive and equitable. Use data-driven insights to monitor compensation trends and effectiveness of programs, making strategic adjustments to support talent attraction and retention.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and mentor a team of compensation and benefits professionals, fostering best practices in total rewards management and ensuring effective collaboration with cross-functional partners (HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Finance, and Legal). Partner with US HR team and HQ to drive change management and clear communication around new total rewards initiatives and policies across the organization.
  • Risk Management: Manage risk activities in human resources, compensation, and benefits. Perform audits to maintain compliance with Workers’ Compensation, Employment Practices Liability Insurance, and regulatory requirements.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business, Finance, or related field. 10–15 years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits, with at least 5–7 years in a management or leadership role overseeing total rewards programs. Experience in a high-tech or semiconductor industry environment is highly desirable.
  • Deep knowledge of compensation and benefits principles and practices, including salary structure design, market pricing, incentive plan, and equity compensation administration.
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits programs and management (health & welfare plans, retirement savings, wellness programs) and familiarity with pertinent benefits and labor laws.
  • Advanced proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems, combined with superior Excel skills for complex analysis, modeling, and reporting. Demonstrated hands-on expertise with leading enterprise platforms—including SAP, Workday and ADP—supported by practical experience in data analytics tools such as Tableau and in deploying process automation solutions utilizing Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
  • Proven leadership and team management experience, including the ability to mentor staff and coordinate cross-functional initiatives. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with senior executives and stakeholders across HR, Finance, and other departments.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with a track record of driving results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • AI literacy is a must


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) are highly regarded. A relevant advanced degree (e.g., MBA or Master’s in HR/Finance) is a plus, reflecting strong business and analytical acumen.
  • Prior experience in optimizing internal workflows and leading end-to-end change management projects, including the successful implementation and/or migration of payroll systems and/or benefits platforms. Demonstrated capability to redesign business processes and integrate advanced technologies to drive improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Prior experience in large technology or semiconductor companies and exposure to global or multi-country compensation and benefits programs can be advantageous. Familiarity with industry-specific compensation surveys (e.g., Radford, Mercer) and equity-based incentive plan administration in tech or IC design firms is beneficial in informing competitive reward strategies.



Base Pay Range: $120,000-$180,000

Employee may be eligible for performance bonus, short and long term incentive programs. Actual total compensation will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience and qualifications.
