Under the supervision of the Multimedia Communications Strategist, the Communications & Marketing Intern functions in a communications support role in the implementation, development and coordination of marketing and public relations policies, procedures and activities.

Scheduling/Availability
  • Must be available to work in-person in Dublin, Ohio (no remote opportunities available).
  • Communications & Marketing Interns are expected to work 15-20 hours per week during the school year.
    • The candidate may be permitted to work a full-time schedule during summer, winter and spring breaks subject to the approved budget.

Intern Pay Structure
Undergraduate Freshman: $15.00/hour
Undergraduate Sophomore: $15.50/hour
Undergraduate Junior: $16.00/hour
Undergraduate Senior: $16.50/hour
First Year Graduate Student: $17.50/hour
Second Year Graduate Student: $19.00/hour

Examples of duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist with the development and implementation of internal/external communications, engagement, outreach and recognition events
  • Conduct social media research, digital media development and media tracking
  • Develop creative concepts and communication plans for special projects
  • Create strategic content and accurate and timely key messaging for all platforms
  • Write news releases, website copy and social media content
  • Create, storyboard, film and edit short-form videos to be posted as Instagram Reels and shared among other social platforms
  • Shadow and support media relations efforts at City events, including observing interviews, assisting with on-site coordination and learning best practices for working with news media
  • Assist with research, interviews and writing for long-form storytelling projects, such as feature articles for Dublin Life magazine and other City publications
  • Support on-site event coverage through photography, video and real-time social media content
  • Create public awareness campaigns for City services and initiatives
  • Adhere to brand guidelines and standards of the City
Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree seeking program in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related area of study
  • Available to work in-person in Dublin, Ohio
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior internship/volunteer experience in the fields of Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or other related field
  • Ideal candidates are assertive, comfortable with multi-tasking, and have the ability to prioritize their responsibilities and manage deadlines with minimal supervision
