The CDL Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating commercial motor vehicles to transport goods in compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, timely deliveries, and professional representation of the company.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate commercial vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain accurate Records of Duty Status (RODS) as required.
- Ensure cargo is properly loaded, secured, and transported safely.
- Follow assigned routes and delivery schedules.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and management.
- Report any accidents, injuries, or safety concerns immediately to the Fleet Manager
- Comply with hours-of-service regulations and use of ELD when applicable.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned vehicles Provide excellent customer service during pickups and deliveries.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with loading and unloading freight when required, including operating liftgates or pallet jacks (when not the primary responsibility).
- Perform basic vehicle cleaning (interior and exterior) beyond standard safety-related upkeep.
- Provide general customer service support, such as obtaining delivery signatures or answering basic questions at delivery sites.
- Complete minor administrative tasks, such as organizing delivery paperwork or submitting logs beyond required regulatory compliance.
- Participate in company meetings, safety briefings, or training sessions not mandated by DOT regulations.
- Assist in warehouse operations during downtime, including stocking or organizing inventory.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting of equipment issues and report findings to maintenance (beyond required pre/post-trip inspections).
- Mentor or assist in training new drivers on company-specific procedures (if not designated as a trainer).
- Run occasional errands for the company, such as picking up parts or supplies.
- Maintain communication with dispatch regarding non-critical updates (e.g., route preferences, scheduling feedback).
- Support yard operations, such as moving trailers within a yard (if not a primary yard driver role).
- Perform other duties as assigned that do not interfere with primary driving responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
- Frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. (or more depending on role)
- Ability to climb in and out of the truck cab and trailer.
- Capable of working in various weather conditions.
- Combination of driving, loading/unloading, and customer interaction
- Exposure to traffic, weather, and warehouse environments
- May require early mornings, evenings, weekends, or overnight travel depending on routes.
COMPETENCY, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations
- Safe driving practices and defensive driving skills
- Ability to operate GPS and electronic logging devices (ELDs)
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A) in the State of Ohio
- Current DOT Medical Certificate
- Clean driving record (MVR)
- Minimum [5] years of commercial driving experience (preferred)
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
