Commercial Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee commercial mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role is responsible for managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.


The ideal candidate has a strong background in HVAC and/or plumbing systems, understands the field side of the business, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple commercial mechanical projects simultaneously (HVAC, piping, plumbing)
  • Oversee full project lifecycle: pre-construction, execution, and closeout
  • Develop and manage project budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting
  • Create and maintain project schedules and ensure milestones are met
  • Coordinate with internal teams (estimating, field operations, service)
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, and material procurement
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, codes, and safety standards
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and resolve issues proactively
  • Maintain strong client relationships and support repeat business

Qualifications

  • 2–10+ years of experience in commercial mechanical construction project management
  • Background in HVAC, plumbing, piping, or mechanical contracting required
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, plans, and specifications
  • Experience managing projects ranging from $25K to $1.5M+ (or more)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Preferred Background

  • Field experience (former technician, foreman, or superintendent) highly preferred
  • Experience with design-build or negotiated work
  • Knowledge of local market and subcontractor base
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required)
