Commercial HVAC Service Technician Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a commercial HVAC service technician
- Strong troubleshooting skills with RTUs (rooftop units)
- EPA 608 Universal certification required
- Proven ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot controls
- Clean driving record
- Professional, customer-focused communication skills
- Ability to pass a background check, initial drug screen, and MVR
Commercial HVAC Service Technician Preferred Background & Skills
- 5+ years of commercial HVAC service experience
- Experience with VRF/VRV systems (or willingness to train)
- Comfortable interacting confidently with clients
- Interest or ability to grow into a supervisory role
- Bilingual abilities are a plus
Commercial HVAC Service Technician Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical, airflow, and refrigeration issues on commercial systems
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective service on RTUs, VRF/VRV systems, split systems, and related controls
- Interpret wiring diagrams and service documentation accurately
- Maintain detailed and professional communication with commercial clients
- Work independently in the field with strong support from parts, office, and leadership teams
