Job Title: CNC Operator

Shift: 2nd & 3rd

Job Description

This role operates multiple CNC machines in a high-volume, precision manufacturing environment, focusing on producing quality components efficiently and safely. You will run primarily CNC lathes (Okuma) and may also operate mills, performing tool changes, basic adjustments, and inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate 2–3 CNC machines, primarily lathes (Okuma) and possibly mills, in a high-volume production setting.
  • Load and unload parts from CNC machines as needed to maintain continuous production flow.
  • Position parts correctly within machine workholding to ensure accurate machining and part quality.
  • Perform tool changes on the machines, typically managing 6–7 different pieces of tooling during production.
  • Make process adjustments as needed to maintain productivity, dimensional accuracy, and overall part quality.
  • Perform required in-process and final inspections of parts and accurately document and record inspection results according to requirements.
  • Use inspection and measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify part dimensions and quality.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand part specifications and machining requirements.
  • Perform tool changes, adjustments, tear downs, and setups as needed to support production.
  • Support changeovers and setups to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and leadership to resolve quality or production issues.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, following all safety procedures and plant guidelines.

Essential Skills

  • Previous CNC experience operating lathes and/or mills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform tool changes, adjustments, tear downs, and basic setups on CNC machines.
  • Experience with CNC machine operation on platforms such as Okuma, Fanuc, Haas, and Mazak (operation and familiarity).
  • Ability to perform changeovers and support efficient production transitions between parts.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills to interpret part specifications and machining requirements.
  • Proficiency in using measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, and gauges for part inspection.
  • Basic CNC inspection experience, including documenting and recording inspection results.
  • Demonstrated interest in building a long-term career and expanding CNC skillset.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC mills as well as lathes.
  • Experience with program edits on CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, Mazak).
  • Prior experience in a high-volume, precision machining or automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform more advanced setups on CNC machines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Solid work history that reflects reliability and a desire for long-term growth.
  • Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift and occasional overtime as needed.

Work Environment

This is a direct-hire role in a small, modern manufacturing facility with fewer than 200 employees. The plant operates three shifts on a Monday–Friday, five-day work schedule, with opportunities for overtime and shift premiums for 2nd (2:00 pm–10:00 pm) and 3rd (10:00 pm–6:00 am) shifts. The environment is clean and highly automated, with high-volume forging and machining operations focused on precision transmission and engine components. Employees work with CNC lathes and mills, including Okuma and other controls such as Fanuc, Haas, and Mazak, and regularly use precision measurement tools like micrometers and calipers. The atmosphere is described as a family environment where everyone knows everyone, supported by a plant-wide financial incentive program and a strong focus on work-life balance. Standard industrial attire and appropriate PPE are required, supported by an annual PPE allowance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $47840.00/yr.
