Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description

Join a growing, family-style manufacturing team as a CNC Machinist, where you will independently set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC mill-turn equipment. You will work with a variety of machines and controls to produce high-quality parts, perform your own inspections, and support efficient, multi-machine production in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mill-turn machines, including horizontal and vertical mills and lathes.
  • Work with a variety of CNC controls and machine brands such as Haas, Okuma, Mazak, and Fanuc.
  • Run multiple CNC machines at the same time while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • Perform machine offsets and change tooling as required to meet part specifications.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings to produce accurate parts.
  • Inspect parts using Standard Measurement Test Equipment (SMTE), including calipers and other hand and power measurement tools.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to programs, tooling, and machine settings.
  • Support CNC programming activities and make minor program edits at the machine as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all shop safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members and work independently with minimal supervision to meet production goals.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2+ years of experience in the setup and operation of CNC mill-turn machines.
  • Hands-on experience operating CNC mills and lathes, including vertical and horizontal milling machines.
  • Proficiency working with CNC controls and equipment such as Haas, Okuma, Mazak, and Fanuc.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
  • Ability to inspect own work using Standard Measurement Test Equipment (SMTE), including calipers and other precision measuring tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a production environment.
  • Experience running multiple CNC machines simultaneously while maintaining quality standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills related to CNC machining processes, tooling, and machine performance.
  • Practical knowledge of CNC setup, including tooling selection, workholding, and offsets.
  • Experience with CNC machining, CNC milling, CNC lathe operations, and general machining practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience as a CNC setup operator and CNC milling machinist.
  • Familiarity with 5-axis milling machines and advanced milling operations.
  • Exposure to programming CNC machines or making basic program edits at the control.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools in a machining environment.
  • Comfort working with both older and newer CNC equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team-oriented shop environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a fast-paced machining environment that combines both older and newer CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and 5-axis equipment. You will work on the shop floor with CNC mills, vertical and horizontal milling machines, lathe machines, and a variety of hand and power tools for setup and inspection. The facility is described as clean and organized, with a small, family-like atmosphere that encourages collaboration and independence. You can expect to move between multiple machines, perform setups, make adjustments at the controls, and conduct inspections using standard measurement tools throughout your shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middletown, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
