Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Hybrid Cloud Engineer to join the Server Operations Team at an education government client. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, evaluation, and implementation of cloud services and cloud-native application architectures. You will troubleshoot issues within a vast Hybrid Infrastructure (approximately 1800 servers on various Dell hardware and Virtual Servers on Hyper-V) and ensure compliant, secure cloud platform operations across all connected cloud platforms.
Mandatory Certifications (Must hold ANY or ALL of the following):
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration
- AWS SysOps Administrator
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, build, management, and operation of the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) layer (hosted and cloud-based platforms).
- Implement various cloud services according to business demands and interconnect modern cloud services with on-premise resources.
- Ensure and define compliance and security rules for a safe cloud infrastructure.
- Provide administration and oversight for hardware/software infrastructure, including recommending solutions, new acquisitions, and upgrades.
- Coordinate and configure IT infrastructure services needed to provide comprehensive platform services for web applications.
- Perform incident and problem management, acting as Level 2/Level 3 support, and participate in a Windows server "On-Call" rotation (24x7 emergencies).
- Manage day-to-day print server provisioning, respond to alerts, and perform initial input of print server-related assets into the database.
- Interact with cross-functional IT teams, application teams, and third-party vendors to resolve issues and streamline processes.
Required Technical Skills & Experience: Infrastructure & OS: 5+ years of experience with Windows Server 2008 through 2022 in a Hyper-V / System Center Virtual Machine Manager within an Enterprise Datacenter/Cloud Hybrid environment.
- Microsoft Stack: Strong experience with Microsoft Failover Clustering, Host/OS Patching, Migrations, and Azure administration.
- Cloud & Containers: Comprehensive understanding of PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS. Exposure to OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), Kubernetes, microservices architecture, and cloud architecture.
- Data & Integration: Hands-on experience in API Management and Azure Data Factory (ADF). Database skills are highly preferred.
- Automation & CI/CD: Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment processes and tools (IDEs like Eclipse, GIT/Stash, Jenkins, Maven, Nexus).
- Scripting: Programming/scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, Terraform, or C#.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong cross-functional knowledge spanning networks, databases, web services, AI, and infrastructure.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
