Clinical Pharmacist

The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for promoting safe, effective, and evidence-based medication use in an acute care hospital setting. This role collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support appropriate medication therapy, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain hospital pharmacy operations. The Clinical Pharmacist participates in medication order review, pharmacokinetic monitoring, drug information support, policy compliance, and staff education.

Qualifications

Education

·        Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy required.

Licensure/Certification

·        Current, active Pharmacist license in Florida required.

·        Board certification preferred.

Experience

·        Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

·        Acute care pharmacy experience preferred.

·        Experience with electronic health records and computerized physician order entry systems preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

·        Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, pharmacokinetics, drug distribution systems, and medication safety principles.

·        Knowledge of the Joint Commission, CMS, state board of pharmacy, and other applicable regulatory standards.

·        Ability to assess medication regimens and make evidence-based recommendations.

·        Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

·        Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced hospital environment.

·        Competency in reviewing medication profiles, laboratory data, and clinical information.

·        Proficiency with pharmacy information systems, automated dispensing cabinets, and EHR documentation.

·        Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

·        Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods.

·        Ability to use computers and pharmacy equipment regularly.

·        Ability to lift and carry medication supplies consistent with department needs.

Shift: May require evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Base Pay Scale: $116,480 - $143,520, depending on experience.
